Artful Pairing: Sake & Sushi at the Center for the Arts Evergreen 🍶🍣

On October 10th, 2025, I had the incredible privilege of partnering with the Center for the Arts Evergreen for their Artful Pairing event — a beautifully curated evening themed “Sake and Sushi.”

This unforgettable night brought together local art lovers, food enthusiasts, and members of the Evergreen community for a one-of-a-kind sake tasting and sushi pairing experience. It wasn’t just a dinner — it was a celebration of craftsmanship, connection, and culture.

A Collaboration of Art, Flavor, and Community

It was an honor to stand alongside Adam, a certified sake sommelier, who generously donated and shared the elegance of Heaven Sake. Together, our mission was simple: to give Evergreen a night where flavor met feeling — where every pour of sake and every piece of sushi told its own story.

As the sake flowed and the aroma of freshly prepared sushi filled the room, guests were treated to a guided experience that celebrated both tradition and creativity — the very heart of Sushi Win Jr.

Sake & Sushi Pairings that Told a Story

Throughout the evening, Adam led guests through a curated flight of sake, each paired with a handcrafted sushi dish to highlight the balance between Japanese cuisine and beverage artistry:

Crisp starter sake — light, refreshing, and perfect for opening the palate.
🥟 Smooth and delicate pour — enhancing the golden crunch of pan-fried dumplings.
🐟 Rich, full-bodied sake — harmonizing with the buttery texture of the yellowtail avocado roll.
🍣 Bright, sharper finish — cutting beautifully through the velvety flavor of fresh salmon nigiri.

Each pairing reminded guests that food and drink can be more than a meal — they can be an experience of art and storytelling.

More Than a Restaurant: The Heart Behind Sushi Win Jr.

For me, this evening was deeply meaningful. It allowed me to share what I love most — the art of sushi making and the story of my family’s journey through Japanese cuisine.

Since taking over Sushi Win Jr., my dream has been to offer the Evergreen community more than great sushi. I want each guest to walk away with a sense of warmth, connection, and appreciation for how food can bring people together.

Partnering with the Center for the Arts Evergreen reminded me how food and art share the same purpose — to inspire, connect, and celebrate the beauty of creativity.

Heartfelt Gratitude

To Adam, thank you for sharing your expertise and passion for sake. Your generosity and insight elevated the entire experience.

Why We Do What We Do

Nights like these remind me exactly why I love being a chef.
Food is more than nourishment — it’s a language of love and gratitude. It bridges cultures, sparks joy, and builds community.

To everyone who joined us that night: thank you for letting Sushi Win Jr. be part of your story.

With gratitude and respect,
Ryan @ Sushi Win Jr. 🍣❤️🔥
